About Us
How it all started
The Name:
The members of The Storm Before began playing together almost two years ago under another prominent band in the area. During that time; unrelenting snowstorms, blizzards, cold, and formidable North Dakota weather patterns made winter gigs an overwhelming challenge for many, including us.
The name, The Storm Before, plays homage to the struggle and dedication shown by not only the members of that band, but of many countless musicians who have persevered "the storm before" to get where they needed to be.
Our Story:
The Storm Before formed in early 2023. It started as a dream to bring a consistent live music experience to listeners while still being a three-piece band.
Within weeks of forming, we played our first gig in Minot, ND, at the Rockin' Horse. We have several more dates booked, not only at the Rockin' Horse, but several other establishments throughout the state. Check out our Schedule for an up to date look at our current bookings.
What Sets us apart:
With the complexities of most music; featuring steel guitar, multiple acoustic and electric guitars, violins, keyboards, sound effects, and more; to have the personnel to do all of these parts live would not be feasible for most situations. We utilize our ability to record our own backing instruments and sound effects, delivering a full, rich sound every night. This makes us able to easily adapt to any size event while delivering the same quality regardless.

Vance Van Wagner is our powerhouse on the drums, providing the beat that moves your feet!
Ted Delfs
Ted Delfs is our virtuoso of the lead guitar and a unique vocal addition with a smooth and adaptive range.
Lin Ella Rose
Lin Ella Rose is our master of the low end on bass as well as providing powerful, dynamic vocals.
